Call for Volunteers

5 Volunteers are needed to assist with general cleaning and hauling of stained glass and other materials related to the stained glass classes at the Union Project. Volunteers are needed for Thursday April 29 beginning at 11 am. No specific skills are needed. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent. If you are interested in volunteering for this project please email Justin@unionproject.org.

Request for flowers for Earth Day Planting

We will be spending the morning of April 22 planting and landscaping the flower beds that surround The Union Project. Students from the Craig Academy will be joining us in the morning to assist with the work. The Union Project would welcome donations of mulch, flowers, top soil, or other landscaping materials for the day. Planting will begin at 9:30 am and continue until all plants are in the ground. If you are able to donate materials for the day or are interested in volunteering your time please contact Justin@unionproject.org or call 412-478-3105.

Request for Proposals

The Union Project requests proposals from artists to provide summer art-making activities for youth at a weekly art and farmer’s market. Up to 16 artists will be selected for one or more weeks. Artists will be compensated. Deadline for proposals is May 15, 2004. Complete details are listed at www.unionproject.org/artists.htm .

Summer and Fall Stained Glass Classes are filling up fast

Students will gain a start-to-finish knowledge of the work necessary to disassemble, repair and reassemble historic 100-year old stained glass church windows from the former Union Baptist Church. The restored windows will be reinstalled into the church building. Students will learn valuable skills while greatly helping the Union Project accomplish its charitable goals – the window restoration alone was estimated to cost up to $900,000 – and this method allows the restoration to be self-sustaining. Sign up to be a part of this innovative and wonderful class!
