Apr 24, 2004 - Mac Martin And The Dixie Travelers 50th Anniversary Celebration

Great show last night at Synod Hall in Pittsburgh.
All the bands did a great job.

Nine Mile Run, the host band.
M & M Express featuring Ron Mesing's Dobro and teeth.
The Allegheny Drifters sounded great.

The Dixie Travelers were really on and it was exciting
to see and hear former band members playing with
them...Bob Artis, Brad Foust, Ron Mesing, Wes Homner,
Bernie Cunningham, and John and Wendy Mackin.
Bob Smith, one of Mac's original banjo players,
came in from Connecticut for the show.

Added to the show was the announcement and sale of the
band's Copper Creek re-issue release of their 1978
Renovah release "Travelin' On".

Copper Creek's Gary Reid made the trip up from
Virginia to be in attendance.

He brought with him two (unsold) cases of Copper
Creek's 2004 Bluegrass Calendar to be distributed to
the appreciative audience.

Pittsburgh City Councilman  Bill Peduto read and
presented a City Council Proclamation for Mac Martin
and The Dixie Travelers 50th Anniversary.
Proclamations were also presented from Dan Onorato,
Allegheny County Chief Executive, and from State
Representative Mike Divan from the Pennsylvania House
of Representatives.

A special thanks to Paul and Louise Dvorchak and to
everybody who worked with them to present this
concert.

And a happy 79th birthday to Mac Martin on Monday.

Thanks to everybody who attended to help support the
St Joseph House of Hospitality.
