Final Call for Proposals

The Union Project requests proposals from artists to provide summer art-making activities for youth at a weekly art and farmer’s market. Up to 16 artists will be selected for one or more weeks. Artists will be compensated. Deadline for proposals is THIS FRIDAY, May 15, 2004. Complete details are listed at www.unionproject.org/artists.htm .

New Volunteer Dates Announced

The Union Project will once again begin regular Wednesday work days at the Union Project building. Staff from the Union Project will be at the building from 10 am to 3 pm every Wednesday. Volunteers are welcome to drop buy, but encouraged to notify us ahead of time that they will be coming. Projects will vary through the course of the summer but may include landscaping, painting, stained glass cleaning, demolition, and other restoration projects. Email Justin@unionproject.org with questions or to sign up for a work day.

Saturday Work Day in June

The Union Project has scheduled another Saturday workday. June 19 from 9 am to 4 pm volunteers will be working at the Union Project building. Please email Justin@unionproject.org  if you are interested in participating in this day.

Register for Summer Stained Glass

Students will gain a start-to-finish knowledge of the work necessary to disassemble, repair and reassemble historic 100-year old stained glass church windows from the former Union Baptist Church. The restored windows will be reinstalled into the church building. Students will learn valuable skills while greatly helping the Union Project accomplish its charitable goals – the window restoration alone was estimated to cost up to $900,000 – and this method allows the restoration to be self-sustaining. Sign up to be a part of this innovative and wonderful class!
