GrandMaster Roc Raida  and DJ Total Eclipse welcome virtuoso
turntablists DJ
Boogie Blind and DJ Precision to The X-ecutioners. Boogie Blind from
Harlem,
DJs for Pharoahe Monch and is the 2000 Vestax DJ World Extravaganza

THE GREAT HIP HOP SWINDLE LECTURE
by POPMASTER FABEL
For bookings contact ToolsofWar@aol.com

In his lecture, "The Great Hip Hop Swindle," Jorge Pabon, Sr. Vice
Pres. of
the Rock Steady Crew, delves into the circumstances that have led to
the
fragmentation of Hip Hop culture as it stands today. He discusses the
ways that Hip
Hop was celebrated in the 70s through the 80s and compares this to
media and
industry dominated control of Hip Hop today. Not only does Fabel
discuss the
circumstances and situations that led Hip Hop to the state that it is
in today,
he also offers solutions for how people can revive the culture and
attempt to
restore it to it's original state.  Fabel backs up his assertions with
visuals
and artifacts which he has collected or produced himself.
-Lecture points include: Hip Hop as a Revolutionary Movement.  Hip Hop
as a
Cultural Melting Pot. Urban Culture. Art Forms Predating Hip Hop. The
Early 80s
- The Beginning of the End. The Mid-80s - A Stripping of the Culture.
The
Media Swindle. The Late 80s/Early 90s: Picking up the Pieces. Non Hip
Hop Artists
Incorporating Hip Hop. Hip Hop Artists Clean Up the Mess Rap Industry
Leaves
Behind. Institutional Swindle. Exclusion. Devils Come in All Colors,
Genders,
Shapes and Sizes. Solutions.

"TOOLS OF WAR" was named with the idea that there are many "tools" one
can
use in competing/battling within Hip Hop culture: turntables,
microphones,
paint, one's body, and especially one's voice (and so on)! Although the
name might
appear aggressive, the intent behind it's use is actually to inform and
educate people regarding not only Hip Hop but many other social and
political
issues. As we grow, we are finding that it has also become a forum for
voicing
opinions and sharing ideas which might help in unifying and uplifting
people all
over the world.

Submitting Info and Events for the Tools of War Newsletter:
Our grassroots Hip Hop newsletter is a free service. What goes in the
newsletter is really whatever we are feeling and, most importantly,
have time to
include. We appreciate everyone's enthusiasm in wanting to submit info
to the
newsletter but please understand that sending flyers for us to retype
and
referring us to your website for the info will not get your event or
info listed.  We
need abbreviated text in paragraph form, (not in all caps unless you
are
Afrika Bambaataa) and  would need to know, at the very least: event
title, exact
venue and address (with zip code), your website, who's on the bill,
what time it
begins and ends, admission costs, etc.
