We made it through
another summer. The SL would like to thank everyone who has continued to
support our little World in Pittsburgh. Rather it is business
or personal we will all face several obstacles and decisions throughout this
journey called LIFE. Sometimes we just have to be persistent in reaching
our ideal life. The SL has seen many situations where its future seems to
be coming to an end. But as many high walls have been placed in
the way, the ideas & philosophy of the lounge continues creates new
paths through tough situations. Our lives as human beings are
challenged, some more than others, relationships fall apart, love ones die,
jobs are lost, and cultures are discriminated against. But time &
time again, we witness the beauty of the cycle of Life, were new friends are
made, babies our born, the entrepreneurial spirit is raised, and street
cultures now represent the voice of the World. No matter hard it gets
sometimes; always remember that as a member of the Human Race, you have the
ability to change your life and the World.

9/21st PPAF presents Dapp Theory (NYC) @ the New
Crawford Grill. Featuring Jazz Report's Pianist of the
Year 2000 Andy Milne.
Saturday, September 21st will
mark Dapp Theory’s (formerly Andy Milne’s Cosmic Dapp Theory) second trip to the city of bridges. Justin
Strong of the Pittsburgh Progressive Arts Forum (PPAF) and 7th
Movement Development, Inc., is bringing the Hip-Jazz sounds to Pittsburgh’s
Historic Crawford Grill. Dapp Theory consists of lead
pianist Andy Milne (Voted “Keyboardist of the Year 2000” by Jazz Report
Magazine), Switzerland-born GregoireMaret on the harmonica, Bassist Rich Brown, and drummer
Sean Rickman (toured and recorded with Me’shellN’degeocello, and Maxwell).
Milne’s innovative rhythmic grooves resemble
those of alto-saxophonist and M-BASE founder, Steve Coleman. The sparse
harmonic surprises Milne delivers on piano, however distinguish his music from
Coleman’s. In addition, Milne’s extensive use of vocals, samples and sound
bites, set him apart from other pianists in his generation, and sets him on
pace to carry on the lineage of creative masters like Herbie
Hancock and McCoy Tyner.
Saturday’s event will be
an over 21 event attracting an audience of Pittsburgh’s young Jazz, Hip-Hop,
Soul, and Funk artists and fans. The New Crawford Grill has a
full wet bar and a kitchen serving up the tantalizing soul food for the
evening. The head-nodding-foot-tapping energy is sure to echo the rhythmic
sounds for Pittsburgh’s
