Funkey Monkey is a music festival produced by MINIm. MINIm's are miniature music festivals to test the waters and answer the question, is Pittsburgh ready for an International Music/Performance Festival, along the likes Of NXNE and the Philly Fringe Festival? Funkey Monkey is one in a series Of three MINIm's.

To follow, will be JAZZ BE JAZZ, a focus on jazz created by young cats, And "Super Bon Bon", a movement and performance arts festival. What makes these festivals miniature is the factor of time. MINIm's are only for a day or two, whereas most festivals occur over a period of 1 to 2 weeks. MINIm's focus is on Pittsburgh's local talent in a concentrated manner. Funkey Monkey is a funk festival featuring Pittsburgh's own brand of Funk music. Parliament Funkadelic having emerged out of Ohio, a stone's throw away.

What is Funk? Funk is the reclaiming of rock, rhythm and blues with a dash of gospel soul drenching sweat. It's on the one, it's freeing your mind so your ass can follow. FUNK is revolution you can dance to. It is mindblowing, intellectual booty swaying bop gun lick you in your ear hole juice.
