Thurs Sept 26th  through 28th  - The First Biennial Urban History Conference of the Urban History Association. On September 26-28, 2002 the First Biennial Urban History Conference of the Urban History Association will take place at the Senator John Heinz Regional History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Two hundred urban historians, sociologists, and urban planners from around the United States and the world will gather to present papers on and discuss a wide range of topics, themes, and issues in the history of the city. Forty-five sessions devoted to urban society, demography, immigration, race, ethnicity, gender, class, culture, space, landscape, the natural and built environment, economy, technology, infrastructure, political economy, policy, and planning will take place on Friday and Saturday. Almost half of the sessions are comparative and international in perspective.
