David is a local artist to Pittsburgh, that started painting about 4 years ago.
His stretched canvas' are worked with pen and ink and acrylic paint, never
applied with a brush, to create intricate abstractions. These 'abstractions'
trick the eye, which begins to see landscapes, figures and familiar textures.
David's paintings allude to surreal environments from a sci-fi adventure.

The 21st Century Community
Learning Center (CCLC) is an after-school program serving 1st through 3rd
graders in the Sto-Rox and City of Clairton school districts. The goal of the
CCLC is to 1) improve school attendance; 2) improve classroom performance; 3)
improve grade averages and standardized test scores; and 4) decrease
disciplinary referrals.
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Artistic Coordinator is
responsible for planning, developing curriculum, implementing the Children¹s
Repertory Theatre and achieving the goals of the CCLC. The Artistic Coordinator
must coordinate all the components of the Children¹s Repertory Theater into a
cohesive and coherent program. The Artistic Coordinator must understand arts and
arts funding, develop relationships with arts funding organizations, leverage
outside resources, work within budget, develop Children¹s Repertory Theatre
curriculum, and promote teamwork with children, AmeriCorps® tutors/mentors,
Activity Providers, Teacher/Consultants, other CCLC personnel, parents and
School District personnel.

The Sprout Fund is sponsoring a mural being painted in Garfield this
summer. To introduce the artist, Kirke Wilson, and the project to folks
in the neighborhood, we're holding a kick-off celebration on
Sunday July 20, 2003 2pm - 4pm
This will be a great opportunity to promote arts activity in general that
is happening on Penn Ave. If any artists would be interested in coming
out to do demonstrations or get involved in any other way that would be
great.
So far we're trying to arrange for a DJ and some snacks. We'll have the
finalized mural design on display and we'll have side walk chalk for
anyone who wants to get involved in some art making. If you can add to
the festivities, please contact:

Second stage will play host to a full day of spoken word, poetry, and public

organizations working to promote greater tolerance among our various cultures
living and working together in Pittsburgh. Between the stages we¹ll have a
