The New Yinzer hosts Pros Only, it's monthly reading series featuring
the
work of local writers, on Thursday, November 20, 2003.

This month's reading features the work of boice-Terrel Allen. Allen is
the
author of two novels, Janet Hurst and The Daughters of a Mother, and
the
editor of Coloring Book: An Eclectic Anthology of Fiction & Poetry by
Multicultural Writers. He holds degrees from both the University of
Pittsburgh and New York University's Graduate School of Journalism.
He's
been the recipient of grants and scholarships from the Multicultural
Arts
Initiative, the Pittsburgh Foundation, and the Archie D. and Bertha H.
Walker Foundation. Allen is the founder of Rattlecat Press. Currently,
he's at work on a collection of short stories and a memoir.

All readings begin at 8pm at ModernFormations Gallery, located at 4919
Penn Avenue in Garfield. Click here for a map. Buses that run by or
near
ModernFormations include the 77s, 84s, and 54C.

Pros Only is broadcast on the Sunday after the reading at 6 p.m. on
WRCT
88.3 FM, the radio station of Carnegie Mellon University. Listen online
at
wrct.org.

The series showcases and honors the many writers of The New Yinzer and
those in the greater writing community that we admire by giving them a
stage and a microphone to read not only stories that have run in the
magazine, but also new and unpublished work they've written.

The writing's so good you have to hear it.
