City Theatre Announces Line-up for City Specials
A menu of events related to String of Pearls will be served up in October
PITTSBURGH (October 13, 2003) City Specials are events designed to enhance City Theatre programming. Three City Specials are scheduled for October, each related to String of Pearls, the new play by Michele Lowe running on City Theatre’s mainstage through November 2. All City Specials are free and open to the public. Tickets for String of Pearls may be purchased by calling the Box Office at (412) 431-CITY or visiting www.citytheatrecompany.org.
Trunk Show of Mikimoto Designs from Orr’s Jewelers.
Friday, October 17.
Beginning at 6 p.m.
Mikimoto was the first to succeed in pearl culturing. Now, 110 years later, the company has created its own distinctive style and offers the best in quality jewelry. Mikimoto designs, which are available in Pittsburgh exclusively through Orr’s Jewelers, will be on display in a trunk show in City Theatre’s Gordon Lounge. Please join us for this unique opportunity to see and try on world-class merchandise from Mikimoto and Orr’s.
Music by the Fuzzy Comets.
Friday, October 24.
Beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Like the play String of Pearls, this band was created by strong women. Led by founding members and principal songwriters Melissa Ippolito (vocals) and Christine Carnevali (acoustic and electric guitars), the Fuzzy Comets sound fuses elements of funk, folk, and rock. Along with their four-piece band, Ippolito and Carnevali will perform a set of groove-laden musical poetics in City Theatre’s Gordon Lounge. Delicious complimentary appetizers, courtesy of Fresh Innovative Catering (the tasty mobile division of the big Burrito Restaurant group), will be available along with a cash bar.
“The Pale, Poetic Pearl.”
Sunday, October 26.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Two of Pittsburgh’s finest female poets, Jan Beatty and Leslie Anne Mcilroy, will read the gems of their creations after the matinee of String of Pearls in the Mainstage Theatre.
