PROS ONLY RETURNS!

October 5, 2000... The New Yinzer's monthly reading series, Pros Only,
returns from a one-month vacation with a new schedule and featuring a
newcomer to the city.

Pros Only will be held on Thursday, October 16, at 8 p.m. at
ModernFormations Gallery and will feature nonfiction writer Kristen
Cosby
and special guest for it's first Thursday session. Kristen is a first
year
MFA student and composition teacher at the University of Pittsburgh.
She'll be reading one of her earlier pieces, "Permission to Continue".
Look for more of her work in the upcoming November issue of The New
Yinzer.

The series showcases and honors the many writers of The New Yinzer and
those in the greater writing community that we admire by giving them a
stage and a microphone to read not only stories that have run in the
magazine, but also new and unpublished work they've written. Past
readers
have included Dwight Chambers, B. Clifford, Benjamin Davies, Cara
Fagan,
Meghan Holohan, Robert Isenberg, Kris Mamula, Jessica Mesman, Matt
Stroud,
and others.

All readings begin at 8pm at ModernFormations Gallery, located at 4919
Penn Avenue in Garfield. Buses that run by or near ModernFormations
include the 77s, 84s, and 54C. Pros only continues throughout the fall
on
the third Thursday of each month

Pros Only is broadcast on the Sunday after the reading in the
afternoons
on WRCT 88.3 FM, the radio station of Carnegie Mellon University.

About The New Yinzer:

The New Yinzer is a magazine dedicated to enriching the literary
landscape
of Western Pennsylvania by exposing its residents to new and
experimental
forms of writing not found in other local fora and engaging them in an
educational discourse about that writing, while also providing regional
writers with a working classroom in which to cultivate their writing
from
a fresh idea to a finished product.

The New Yinzer first published online on January 30, 2002, and was
incorporated as a non-profit company on June 14, 2002.

The New Yinzer publishes, without fail, on the first Wednesday of each
month at www.newyinzer.com, as well as produces print Storybooks at
least
twice a year. It also holds literary-type events and gatherings like
its
monthly happy hour, Sociable Behavior and its monthly reading series,
Pros
Only, in addition to participating in and exhibiting at other local art
and cultural events around the Pittsburgh area.
